NSW Country Championship - 2025

The 2025 NSW Country Champs and Inter-District Teams event was conducted on the weekend of September 20, 21 at Cowra GC
The NDGA was represented by Jake Riley, David Alexander, Steven Slappendel, Matt Kirkwood, Michael Wade and Tim Meek replaced Hamish Ellison, who had to withdraw at the 11th hour. Managers were President Stan and Secretary Danny.
Despite heavy rain on the Thursday prior the course was in championship condition for the weekend The greens were very fast and tricky - with the course setup described as being at the top end of difficult.
109 players entered from 11 Districts.
After the 1st round on Saturday, our Steven Slappendel was only 2 strokes off the lead, shooting a 67 - 4 under.
Sunday's round saw most of our players improve on their Saturday scores - with Jake Riley the best with a 70 - 1 under
The winner was Jye Halls from South Coast with 134.

8th - Steven Slappendel - 67, 75 142
12th - Jake Riley - 74, 70. 144
42nd - David Alexander - 80, 72. 152
43rd - Tim Meek - 77, 75. 152
45th - Matt Kirkwood - 77, 76. 153
46th - Michael Wade - 78, 75. 153
Special mention goes to Cooper Ridgeway - a junior from Charlestown GC who was a private entry. He finished with 74, 77 151 to finish 38th
In conjunction was an Inter-District Teams event - with the scores of the top 4 players each day combined to identify the champion District.
The NDGA has won this event twice in recent years - but not so this year.
The winning team was South Coast with a combined score of -1. Then followed -
ACT on 2, CCDGA on 14, HRDGA on 17 - the NDGA coming 5th on 19.
Next year's event will be held at Tamworth GC - some time in September 2026.
