The Annual General Meeting of Newcastle District Golf Association was held at Charlestown Golf Club on Monday September 18.
With President, John Waanders, JPO, Don Nelson and Secretary, Rod Carruthers announcing prior to the meeting that they would either be retiring or significantly cutting back - the pressure was on to find replacements or contemplate the necessity of dissolving the NDGA and being incorporated back into GolfNSW.
I am pleased and relieved to report that we got a very positive outcome at the meeting - ensuring the short term future of the NDGA.
The changes in personnel are -
President John Waanders did not seek re-election - Stan Blackhall, the sole nomination, was elected President.
Vice-President Stan Blackhall - moved to the President's role.. Will Semmens, the sole nomination, was elected Vice-President/Captain
Junior Promotions Officer, Don Nelson, did not seek re-election - Dick Vanderkooi, the sole nomination, was elected JPO.
Secretary, Rod Carruthers, did not seek re-election - Peter Power accepted the nomination at the meeting and was elected as Secretary.
Rod Carruthers moved to the position of Assistant Secretary - to facilitate the training of the new Secretary.
Rod Carruthers also accepted the nomination at the meeting - and was re-elected as Treasurer.
Another position previously being performed by Rod was that of Publicity Officer/Media Manager. Michael Wade accepted the nomination from the meeting and was elected.
Our Public Officer, Ian Lovell, retains that position.
There were 2 additions to the Match Committee - Tony Southward and Steve Cook
Overall, a pleasing outcome
Congratulations to all of our elected officials.
